Man Admits to Theft of Summerfest ATM Money

A man has admitted to stealing about $20,000 from a company installing money at an ATM on the Summerfest grounds.

Alvin E. Simmons, 39, faces 10 years in prison and $25,000 in fines if he is convicted on the charge of theft.

Simmons admitted to Milwaukee police that he stole the cash which Mobile Money was installing into an ATM on the morning of Monday, June 29th.

According to the criminal complaint, he said he walked past a parked car with cash inside it.

He passed by the automobile twice, reached into the car, took several bundles of cash, placed it into a duffel bag, and even talked to a security guard before leaving the grounds.

He said he bought a Cadillac. a cell phone, a night at a hotel room, clothes, and shoes with the money, and lost more than $4,000 gambling.

Simmons is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Friday.
