  • Print

Milwaukee police are searching for whoever committed a murder in the Riverwest neighborhood.

Police say Nathan Potter, 21, was found shot near the corner of North Dousman and West Wright Streets, east of Humboldt Avenue.

The shooting happened just after 1:00 a.m. Monday.

A witness said that he thought he heard firecrackers, and then heard Potter cry "Help me!  Help me!"

Paramedics and firefighters came to the scene to assist him, but he was pronounced dead there.

Police do not have anyone in custody.

A neighbor of Potter's said he was not the type of person who would get in trouble.

Authorities are searching for a blue car with a broken driver's side window leaving the area at a high speed, but they do not say the car is connected to the murder.
