5 minors injured in north side shooting

UPDATE: After a Tuesday evening shooting, police say five minors aged 11-17 continue to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Michael J. Brunson with the Milwaukee police department said the minors were in a basement when a shotgun was brought into the room. He said multiple people handled the weapon and it discharged, causing it to go off.

Officials continue to investigate where the shotgun came from and who it belonged to.

MILWAUKEE - Five minors aged 11-17 are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries after a Tuesday evening shooting, police say.

It happened just after 6:00 p.m. near N. 28th St. and W. Locust St. on Milwaukee's north side. The shooting appears to be accidental, according to police. MPD officials were still on scene late Tuesday night investigating.

Two other shootings were reported in Milwaukee Tuesday night, one near S. 6th St. and W. Becher St. and one near N. 16th. St. and W. Hadley St. Both of the victims in those shootings are in stable condition.
