Facebook Blackmail Suspect Had Juvenile RecordBy Lauren LeamanczykWAUKESHA - Anthony Stancl, the teen accused of using Facebook to blackmail other New Berlin Eisenhower students into having sex with him, had a previous juvenile record that involved sexual assault prosecutors revealed Thursday. Stancl appeared in court on a hearing. His attorney is asking Judge J. Mac Davis to lower his bail from $250,000 to $75,000. Judge Davis asked prosecutors if Stancl had a prior record. The district attorney told him that Stancl has no adult record, but he does have a juvenile record that included allegations of sexual assault of a young child. New Berlin school superintendent, Paul Kreuzer, told TODAYS TMJ4HD that his district was unaware of Stancl's record. Because it is a juvenile case, details are not available, including which charges specifically Stancl faced as a minor. By state law, the clerk of courts has to notify a school district only if one of their students is charged with a felony. Some parents were upset that schools are not necessarily notified if one of their students is a juvenile sex offender. "It's all kind of hush, hush and under the carpeting. It makes you wonder, what else?" said Celeste Olsen. Judge Davis did not rule on Stancl's bail request. He asked the attorneys to investigate the possibility of having Stancl monitored by GPS. A hearing is scheduled for next Thursday. |
