Vukmir to Challenge Sullivan
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- State Rep. Leah Vukmir says she'll run for the state Senate next year.
Vukmir plans to challenge incumbent Jim Sullivan in the 5th District, which covers parts of Milwaukee, West Allis, Wauwatosa and Brookfield.
Vukmir, a Wauwatosa Republican, was first elected to the Assembly in 2002. Sullivan, a Wauwatosa Democrat, will complete his first term in the Senate in 2010.
Vukmir says workers in the district need more help from lawmakers as the recession continues. Sullivan issued a statement saying Vukmir has a record of extreme partisanship.
