Car Slams into Building in Fox Point
FOX POINT - Witnesses tell TODAY'S TMJ4 HD reporter Heather Shannon that an elderly woman smashed her car into North Shore Podiatry Friday afternoon after getting her foot stuck between the brake and the gas.
The driver slammed into the building on Port Washington and Bradley shattering its front windows and wall.
Megan Patti was working as the receptionist in the building at the time. She was sitting just inches from where the car smashed through the wall.
"I saw her coming up the curb, she was going pretty slow. Then I guess her foot got stuck and I saw the car coming through the window. By the time I saw it close to the window, it just smashed right through. But I was able to run," Patti said.
Patti ran to safety in the back, where office manager Kim Jamrozy was working.
"I just heard this huge loud crash, and we both jumped because we were in back, and Megan ran up screaming, 'I almost died' and we ran up and saw the smoking car," Jamrozy said.
Once the car was removed, the extent of the damage is obvious. But Patti says, that damage pales in comparison to what could have happened. She's now counting her blessings.
"I'm very lucky. Happy to be alive," she said.
Police said no one was injured.
