RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- The former Racine mayor accused of trying to arrange a sexual liaison with a young girl has been ordered to wear a tracking device.

Gary Becker must pay $7 a day for the electronic monitor while he's out on bond because he will be allowed to attend therapy and 12-step meetings outside Racine County.

The 51-year-old Becker is charged with attempted child sexual assault and child enticement. Authorities say he used the Internet to arrange a meeting with a 14-year-old girl, who was really a state investigator. Becker was arrested when he showed up to meet the girl at Brookfield shopping center.

Racine County Judge Stephen Simanek on Monday ordered the electronic monitoring, which was requested by prosecutors. The device is expected to cost Becker more than $1,200 between now and his scheduled trial date of Oct. 13.
