6:46 p.m. 2 Out, Runner on 2nd
Hinshaw vs. Hall
A wild pitch advances Cameron to 2nd...the pulse still alive.
6:43 p.m. 2 Out, Runner on 1st
Hinshaw vs. Cameron
With 42,000+ watching in Frisco, Cameron gets on base to keep things alive. His 4th walk on the day.
6:42 p.m. 2 Out
Hinshaw vs. Hardy
Double play....ugh.
6:38 p.m. Runner on 1st
Alex Hinshaw vs. Fielder
A walk drawn for his appearance on the basepaths, but he'd better get a second chance in this inning or this game is probably history.
Bottom 8th
6:35 p.m. 3 Out
Julio vs. Ishikawa
Can he finally put us out of our misery? YES, thanks to a K.
6:34 p.m. 2 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Julio vs. Sandoval
A bouncer up the middle creates a base hit and increases the agony.
6:33 p.m. 2 Out, Runner on 1st
Julio vs. Molina
Hardy looks up into the sun and uses his glove to shade him enough to get a towering pop-up.
6:32 p.m. 1 Out, Runner on 1st
Julio vs. Lewis
Corey Hart sprinted to snag a powerful liner to right field. Still, Julio's getting hit hard.
6:31 p.m. Runner on 1st
Julio vs. Renteria
Then, following the homer, it's a walk. Oh, the agony.
6:29 p.m. 0 Out
San Francisco 10, Milwaukee 5
Jorge Julio vs. Winn
Winn starts the inning by putting the Giants in double digits. Not how you start off your Milwaukee tenure.
Top 8th
6:24 p.m. 3 Out
Howry vs. Braun
A long bomb, just like Counsell, went foul. Then a low, outside hook ends the inning on a K.
6:22 p.m. 2 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Howry vs. Hart
An in-the-dirt pitch gets Corey's attention, and unfortunately, a K.
6:21 p.m. 1 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Howry vs. Weeks
Bouncer to 3rd, and Sandoval's arm can't beat Weeks' legs.
6:18 p.m. 1 Out, Runner on 1st
Howry vs. Craig Counsell (PH)
A long drive to right lands into McCovey Cove, but in foul territory. Still, Counsell does his thing by getting a walk.
6:17 p.m. 1 Out
Bob Howry vs. Kendall
0-3 so far today, it's 0-4 on a low-outside hook.
Bottom 7th
6:13 p.m. 3 Out
Bush vs. Velez
A slow roller makes Hall produce a speedy throw to get the fast Velez.
6:12 p.m. 2 Out, Runner on 2nd
Bush vs. Burris
A much-needed K.
6:10 p.m. 1 Out, Runner on 2nd
San Francisco 9, Milwaukee 5
Bush vs. Rowand
A high chopper is fair inside third, and Sandoval will score easy. Bill Hall thought it was foul the moment he saw it, and Ken Macha screams as well about it. It looks like it barely cleared the corner of hte bag.
6:08 p.m. 1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Bush vs. Ishikawa
Another deep drive, but Braun makes the catch 360 feet away. My goodness, Dave. Scare us every pitch, why don't you?
6:07 p.m. Runner on 2nd
Bush vs. Sandoval
Bush's fourth pitch of the game is hit hard as well. He doesn't have it early, to say the least.
6:06 p.m. 0 Out
San Francisco 8, Milwaukee 5
Dave Bush vs. Molina
His third pitch of the game produces an expansion of the Giants' lead.
Top 7th
6:03 p.m. 3 Out
Affeldt vs. Hall
Wouldn't you know it...a double play. Par for the 2008 course, Billy.
5:57 p.m. 1 Out, Runners on 1st and 3rd
Affeldt vs. Cameron
On a payoff pitch, it's ducks on the pond for Milwaukee...Billy Hall, puhleeze get something here!
5:56 p.m. 1 Out, Runner on 3rd
Affeldt vs. Hardy
The tying run at the plate...nope, he grounds out, but Fielder gets to 3rd.
5:54 p.m. Runner on 2nd
Affeldt vs. Fielder
A shot t left center hits the Emerald Nuts sign and Fielder barrels to 2nd. MUCH needed.
Bottom 6th
5:52 p.m. 3 Out
McClung vs. Lewis
After two quick strikes, a half swing on a curve ball pulls off a rare 1-2-3 inning.
5:50 p.m. 2 Out
McClung vs. Renteria
Hardy easily takes care of the guy who drove Craig Counsell home in the '97 series.
5:48 p.m. 1 Out
McClung vs. Winn
After the sun finally comes out, McClung delivered a 55-foot fastball on the first pitch. Then, McClung fields his position and takes care of the top of the order.
Top 6th
5:44 p.m. 3 Out
Metters vs. Braun
Now, All-Star vs. unknown, and the unknown got him to swing-and-foul-tip into Molina's glove. A George Carlin word comes out of Braunie's mouth.
5:42 p.m. 2 Out
Metters vs. Hart
Hart, with a steadily bushier beard, slaps a soft tly to Rowand for his second putout. Come on, Braunie, hit it a little harder!
5:39 p.m. 1 Out
Brandon Metters vs. Weeks
Rowand takes care of Weeks in center. He didn't have to smash into the wall to get it done.
Bottom 5th
5:37 p.m. 3 Out
McClung vs. Sherholz (PH)
Thankfully the inning mercifully ends without more damage. Bouncer, Fielder to McClung
5:35 p.m. 2 Out, Bases Loaded
San Francisco 7, Milwaukee 5
McClung vs. Burris
Four pitches, four balls, the lead grows for the Giants. Coffey's working the pen.
5:31 p.m. 2 Out, Bases Loaded
McClung vs. Rowand
A walk loads the bases...the second of the inning. Emmanuel Burris can turn into Babe Ruth here or Joey Meyer..
5:31 p.m. 2 Out, Runners on 1st and 3rd
McClung vs. Ishikawa
A 96 mph fastball turns into a pop-up to Hall.
5:28 p.m. 1 Out, Runners on 1st and 3rd
McClung vs. Sandoval
The big West Virginia gets the big 1st baseman to swing big and miss big on high cheese.
5:26 p.m. Runners on 1st and 3rd
McCling vs. Molina
A bomb to left field goes off the yellow car of the Chevron sign, and Braun gets a great throw in to hold the loping Molina to a single.
5:23 p.m. Runner on 1st
McClung vs. Lewis
"He just walked....Fred Lewis." Said by Uecker with much pensiveness.
Top 5th
5:20 p.m. 3 Out
Martinez vs. Brad Nelson
He pinch-hits for Suppan. Ishikawa snags a hard bouncer and takes it himself. No damage done. Oh well.
5:16 p.m. 2 Out, Runner on 1st
Martinez vs. Kendall
With Seth McClung working in the pen (replacing Suppan, who's on deck), Kendall bounces and gets Cameron in a rundown, tagging him out. Soup is being called back for a pinch-hitter. I'd make sure he doesn't pitch another inning with a 13.50 ERA.
5:14 p.m. 1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Martinez vs. Hall
I don't like hearing Ueck yell "got him...looking." That was IFFY in terms of being on the plate.
5:12 p.m. Runner on 2nd
Martinez vs. Hall
"Oooh, he had a cut and he missed." Even the first instance of that out of Ueck's mouth is awesome to hear. Then, Cameron gets Milwaukee's third stolen base of the game. Molina's having trouble.
5:11 pm. Runner on 1st
Martinez vs. Cameron
This guy seems much more vulnerable than Lincecum, and he lets Cammy on base with the tying run with a walk.
Bottom 4th
5:05 p.m. 3 Out
Suppan vs. Renteria
Can Suppan survive four innings? Weeks shuffles in the infield to grab a pop-up, so the answer is yes.
5:02 p.m. 2 Out, Runner on 1st
Suppan vs. Winn
It's not such a good thing when a leadoff hitter has three times at the plate before the 5th inning. Again, Winn gets on with four straight balls. Castro meanders out to visit Soup.
5:01 p.m. 2 Out
Suppan vs. Martinez
The pitcher-to-pitcher battle turns into a 4-3 putout, though hard hit.
5:00 p.m. 1 Out
Suppan vs. Burris
A called-strike-three helps Suppan calm his nerves.
4:58 p.m.
San Francisco 6, Milwaukee 5
Suppan vs. Rowand
Now, again in semi-trouble, Suppan gives up a bomb that gives the Giants back the lead. 400 footer to left.
4:55 p.m. Runner on 1st
Suppan vs. Ishikawa
The guy who victimized him earlier for 3/4ths of his earned runs so far smokes one off Bill Hall's glove - there was no chance for him to get it, but Hardy might have caught it in mid-air. That's no error, but a well-earned hit.
Top 4th
4:51 p.m. 3 Out
Martinez vs. Hardy
The small ball attack has worked for Milwaukee....until J.J. double-played Milwaukee out of the inning.
4:50 p.m. 1 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Milwaukee 5, San Francisco 4
Martinez vs. Fielder
Another base hit...ANOTHER....gives Milwaukee the lead. He pokes it down the right field line.
4:49 p.m. 1 Out, Runners on 1st and 3rd
Martinez vs. Braun
Another base hit to left moves Braun to 3rd, and the fans applaud Lewis' throw to the cutoff man.
4:46 p.m. 1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Milwaukee 4, San Francisco 4
Martinez vs. Hart
A base hit to left field, and the throw from Lewis goes past the cutoff man and goes to the first base dugout. Weeks scores easily and Hart gets to 2nd.
4:44 p.m. 1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Martinez vs. Hart
Weeks burns rubber, rather sand/dirt, with a steal, as Molina wouldn't even throw following a bobble of the ball.
4:42 p.m. 1 Out, Runner on 1st
Martinez vs. Weeks
Martinez nails Weeks in the back, and you could hear the smack of the ball against his back...that smarts.
Lincecum, by the way, delivered 78 pitches in three innings. Could he just be taking it carefully?
4:40 p.m. 1 Out
Joe Martinez vs. Suppan
A rookie making his debut gets a pitcher with an RBI in the game. That's a rare situation. Does Soup repeat? Nope, on a solid backhanded play by Sandoval.
Bottom 3rd
4:37 p.m. 3 Out
Suppan vs. Sandoval
A 1-2-3 inning? Yep, as Cameron takes a routine fly ball. Can we get a few more of those, Soup? Huh? Lincecum's out of the game? Is he hurt? Tell us, Cory!
4:37 p.m. 2 Out
Suppan vs. Molina
Braun comes in vs. a converging Hardy and snags the short fly.
4:35 p.m. 1 Out
Suppan vs. Lewis
Fred forces a sharp grounder to 2nd, but Weeks isn't weak in getting Lewis out. OK, that was really bad with the word choice.
Top 3rd
4:32 p.m. 3 Out
Lincecum vs. Kendall
Lewis takes in a short fly ball to stop that scoring chance, but at least it's closer.
4:30 p.m. 2 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Lincecum vs. Hall
Does Milwaukee extend their rally? Hall puts Cammy in scoring position after a walk.
4:27 p.m. 2 Out, Runner on 1st
San Francisco 4, Milwaukee 3
Lincecum vs. Cameron
The former Giant dribbles one past Lincecum, and Sandoval couldn't get to it time. Lead cut in half!
4:26 p.m. 2 Out, Runner on 3rd
Lincecum vs. Hardy
Hardy bounces to his counterpart as Braun advances to 3rd on a bounce-out.
4:24 p.m. 1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Lincecum vs. Hardy
Braunie shows his speed with a stolen base. Macha wants to run!
4:21 p.m. 1 Out, Runner on 1st
Lincecum vs. Fielder
We hear the first "he can tie this game with one swing" call from Provus, but it's highly accurate in this case. Except when Fielder swings at a changeup.
4:18 p.m. Runner on 1st
Lincecum vs. Braun
Cory Provus starts his regular-season tenure as a Brewers announcer on 620WTMJ with a leadoff single just past the shortstop.
Bottom 2nd
4:15 p.m. 3 Out
Suppan vs. Renteria
The hero of the '97 World Series double-plays the Giants out of a rally.
4:12 p.m. 1 Out, Runner on 1st
San Francisco 4, Milwaukee 2
Suppan vs. Winn
Ah, seeing Jeff Suppan pitch out of trouble is as dependable as taxes on April 15th...wait, are mine done? Be right back....
...just kidding. A sac fly to center doubles up Milwaukee's score.
4:10 p.m. Runners on 1st and 3rd
Suppan vs. Lincecum
Pitcher vs. pitcher again, and does Lincecum get revenge? Yep...a bouncer over Hall's head (he came up to prepare for a bunt), and it's ducks on the pond. That's just bad luck for Suppan on a fake bunt-turned-swing.
4:08 p.m. Runner on 1st
Suppan vs. Emmanuel Burris
Emmanuel Burris, not Emmanuel Lewis of Webster fame (that would be a repeat of the old Bill Veeck trick), gets plunked in the back by a Suppan fastball. Yeah, Burris crowds the plate.
Top 2nd
4:06 p.m. 3 Out
Lincecum vs. Hart
What's new: a Corey Hart K.
4:04 p.m. 2 Out, Runner on 2nd
San Francisco 3, Milwaukee 2
Lincecum vs. Weeks
Rickie equals Soup's feat with a double to right center, sliding into 2nd base barely ahead of the throw.
4:01 p.m. 2 Out, Runner on 2nd
San Francisco 3, Milwaukee 1
Lincecum vs. Suppan
Come on, Soup, get one of those runs back. He DOES! A double right down the left field line. Way to get the first RBI of '09.
3:59 p.m. 2 Out, Runner on 3rd
Lincecum vs. Kendall
The veteran catcher, on a 3-2 pitch, slaps one right at a semi-handcuffed Burris who still makes the play.
3:58 p.m. 1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Lincecum vs. Hall
Hall's batting average dropped to .225 last year. It drops to .000 with Hall's K, but Cameron advanced to 2nd on a steal.
3:56 p.m. Runner on 1st
Lincecum vs. Cameron
The former Giant drew Lincecum's 2nd walk. A hit might help, though.
Bottom 1st
3:53 p.m. 3 Out
Suppan vs. Rowland
A short pop-up to short, from the department of redundancy department, ended the bloodletting.
3:51 p.m. 2 Out
San Francisco 3, Milwaukee 0
Suppan vs. Travis Ishikawa
The Giants crowd went berzerk, while Brewers fans went angry, as Ishikawa jacked a bomb to the 421 sign in right center for a triple.
3:50 p.m. 2 Out, Bases Loaded
Suppan vs. Pablo Sandoval
A Suppan pitch got slightly wet as it grazed Sandoval's jersey, forcing the bases to get juiced.
3:48 p.m. 2 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Suppan vs. Benji Molina
Corey Hart got grass stains on his gray jersey with a diving catch of a short pop-up in right.
3:44 p.m. 1 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Suppan vs. Fred Lewis
Suppan induces a slow roller to Hardy, whose one-hop throw to Fielder is late. Ozzie Smith might not have made that play.
3:43 p.m. 1 Out, Runner on 1st
Suppan vs. Edgar Renteria
A bouncer past the outstretched arm of Bill Hall produces the game's first hit.
3:41 p.m. 1 Out
Suppan vs. Randy Winn
The Giants' offense starts with a routine fly ball to Ryan Braun, who snags the white pellet falling from the gray.
Top 1st
3:37 p.m.
Lincecum vs. Hardy
A 1-2 high-and-tight pitch got past Molina, but the runners couldn't advance. Then a 3-2 pitch turns into a K on a killer curveball.
3:36 p.m. 2 Out, Runners on 2nd and 3rd
Lincecum vs. Hardy
A wild pitch means that a base hit should produce two runs.
3:34 p.m. 2 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Lincecum vs. Fielder
Prince's first at-bat of 2009 includes Macha deciding to get Braun and Weeks running, but it doesn't result in much with a Fielder swing-and-a-miss.
3:32 p.m. 1 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Lincecum vs. Braun
The Cy Young winner's speed is in the 93-96 range on his fastball in the battle of All-Star vs. All-Star. Braun pays for getting on base as he gets hit with a Lincecum breaking ball.
3:31 p.m. 1 Out, Runner on 1st
Lincecum vs. Hart
A ball hit right at the bag produces a painful fielder's choice for Burris. Hart advances.
3:28 p.m. 0 Out Runner on 1st
Lincecum vs. Weeks
Now the process begins for Weeks to show he belongs in the leadoff spot, that after a highly south-of-the-respectablity line 2008. How does he stand in for his first at-bat? With a yawn. He does his job, though, with a walk drawn on the Cy Young Award winner.

Pregame Story
There's no CC Sabathia in Milwaukee in 2009. There's no Ben Sheets on the mound, either.
But there is a new manager for the Milwaukee Brewers, along with the expectations of a return to the post-season.
It's a dramatic change for the Brewers to have outside expectations be different than they've been for the majority of the 26 years before last year, when they clinched a wildcard berth and the team's first postseason spot in that juncture.
But for Ken Macha, the team's new skipper, that's no problem at all.
"I'd much rather come into a situation where you have a bunch of great players like they have right here, and do a little tinkering to keep things going," said Macha on 620WTMJ's "Wisconsin's Morning News."
"The two job's I've had have been with teams that have had expectations. Oakland, I took over there, and they'd won the division three out of the last four years. You have expectations to go out there and win. You have a good club on the field already. It's just tinkering with a few things.
"Expectations are fine with me. I'd like to have those expectations. If you look at the other side of it, they clear everybody out and you come in brand new as a fresh face, and you start from the bottom up, that's an interesting situation, but I'd prefer the expectation situation that we have in Milwaukee."
He'd rather have game situations than expectation situations, and that game situation should come Tuesday, weather permitting, with the team's 2009 opener against the San Francisco Giants, with Jeff Suppan starting against NL Cy Young Award Winner Tim Lincecum.
"After two off days and a great spring training, I think we're all ready to start the season," explained Macha.
Longer Preseason, Longer Look for Macha
Milwaukee's new manager got a bit of a reprieve this year, as his first season included a longer pre-season because of the World Baseball Classic.
Macha had no complaints about the longer spring training, though his players might have had a few.
"For myself, because it's the first year on the job, the extra time gave me a little more time to get to know the players and get to know what their strengths and weaknesses are. For me, it was helpful," said Macha.
"For the players, about two weeks ago, they were chomping on the bit. It was my job to try to keep them entertained and focused on what they're doing. I think we're ready to go.
"I talked to (hitting coach) Dale Sveum after Tuesday's workout. He said 'We couldn't be more ready.' "
Macha Appreciates Team's Togetherness
In the era of free agency being the main method of building championship contenders, you don't often find squads that make the playoffs after being developed from the ground up.
The Brewers' development system, using the picks made by GM Doug Melvin, has produced a team that has played together for years from the bottom of the minor leagues to the "big club."
That has not only built a talented team, but a team with togetherness.
"It's such a special group of guys," praised Macha. "They all came up through the minors together.
"Ryan Braun had been taken out of (an exhibition) game. He went in and took a shower, and was looking at the TV and said, 'This is getting interesting.' He put his uniform back on and came back on the bench to watch the rest of the game.
"That was something that happened a lot in spring training. Normally, when you take (players out of the) game in spring training, they shower up and they go home early. Here they are, sitting on the bench, watching this thing.
"That's what really makes this team special. Guys that had gone the minor leagues together, that suffered through the trials and tribulations in the minor leagues, the bumps and bruises of developing into major league players, and then they get to the major leagues having rooted for each other in the minor leagues. It is a special bond of those players."
