Rep. Ryan to Speak at "Tax Day Tea Party"

  • Print

Six thousand people are expected to turn out for a "Tax Day Tea Party" on the steps of the State Capitol in Madison.  Congressman Paul Ryan is scheduled as a featured speaker at the event, which is intended to voice opposition to the tax increases in Governor Jim Doyle's proposed new budget.

Ryan has held listening sessions in Franklin, Oak Creek, and Greenfield already this week.  He's been hearing from people who don't want the tax hikes in Governor Doyle's proposed new budget.

Ryan says frustration is running high among many of his constituents.

"I think the message is people are fed up with this notion of chasing ever-higher spending with ever-higher taxes.  There's a limit to how much you can soak the taxpayer."
