Students Could be Suspended for Sexting

A Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report that as many as nine West Allis high school students face suspension for allegedly sending nude photos by cell phone is the talk of this city.

Parents here wonder aloud how such an outrageous scandal could have unfolded.

"Where are the parents when all of this is going on?" asked Jennifer Graetz who's daughter is 8-years-old. "How do you not know what's going on with your child on a daily basis, possibly under your own roof?"

Brian Meroff, who has a 14-year-old daughter and a 17-year-old son, says teenagers should have no expectation of privacy in this technological age.

"Pick up their phone," he advised his fellow parents. "Check out their MySpace. Check out their Facebook. Check it out!"

The incident highlights how widespread the practice of sending nude photos my cell phone has become among the high school set.

"If I grab ten high school students, how many of them would you guess have done this?" TODAY'S TMJ4 asked high school junior Paige Papelbon.

"I'd say at least half," Paige said without hesitation. "For sure. Definitely."

For their part, West Allis Police told The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel there will be no arrests in this case.
