Fredonia Student Had Been Drinking Before DeathSTEVENS POINT - The student who died after being found unresponsive in the stairway of a University of Wisconsin-Steven Point dorm was a 19-year-old freshman from Fredonia. Andrew Woods was a graduate of Random Lake High School. Vice chancellor of student affairs Bob Tomlinson says Woods may have fallen down some stairs in Thomson Hall early Saturday morning. "We want to assure our families and students there is no indication of foul play," Tomlinson told Newsradio 620 WTMJ. Woods attended a party Friday night but what role, if any, alcohol played in his death remains under investigation. The local Coroner says Woods sustained no visible injuries but had been drinking. "We really don't have any way of knowing if there's any relationship there at all," Tomlinson said. Tomlinson says Woods lived on the dorm's fourth floor and was seen entering the building about 12:50 a.m. Saturday. Another student found him on a second-floor landing about 10 minutes later. On Monday, each class began with a moment of silence. "There's a sense of sadness, a sense of loss," Tomlinson explained. "A sense of 'How did this happen?' A sense of unknown."
