Man Arrested Following Standoff Involving Two Young Kids

  • Print

FALL RIVER, Wis. (AP) -- A Fall River man was arrested after a standoff in which he locked himself and his two young children in his house while armed with a knife.

The man's ex-girlfriend and mother of the children, ages 1 and 3, told police the 19-year-old father was armed with a large knife when she came to pick up the children.

She says he then locked her out and went to a second-story window and dumped what he said was acid on her head.

A Columbia County sheriff's detective eventually convinced the father to release the children. They were not injured. The man later surrendered to authorities.

The woman was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Columbus where she was treated for burns to her scalp and skin.
