Instead of being open every day, it will be closed Mondays starting this Monday. Museum spokesman John Eding says it will give workers time to do routine maintenance and art installation and reduce operating costs. But the museum will be open on some Monday holidays, such as Memorial Day, Labor Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day, when attendance is usually high. Also, the museum will no longer charge a separate fee for special exhibitions starting Feb. 7, the opening day for the Jan Lievens exhibition. The museum's new combined ticket price will be $12 for adults, up from $8 without the special exhibition. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
