Biskupic Replacement Named
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A temporary replacement has been named for U.S. Attorney Steven Biskupic, who has resigned as the top prosecutor in Milwaukee's federal court.
Michelle L. Jacobs will serve as the acting U.S. attorney. She has been an assistant U.S. attorney since 1994.
Biskupic announced his resignation last month, and Friday was his last day on the job. The move wasn't surprising, as federal prosecutors typically resign when a new president takes office.
President-elect Barack Obama will name Biskupic's full-time replacement, who must be confirmed by the Senate.
President George W. Bush had appointed Biskupic to the position in 2002.
Biskupic is joining the Chicago office of the law firm Michael Best and Friedrich.
