Burglary Leads to Flooded House

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) -- A burglar left the door open to a Random Lake home, allowing the pipes to freeze, burst and flood the house.

Sheboygan County Sheriff's Capt. Dave Adams says the home was empty because the owner was in prison for drunken driving. He says it was broken into some time in the past couple of months.

Adams says the burglar or burglars broke through the front door and then left it open, allowing the cold air to get in. He says the flooding did "considerable damage" to the house.

The burglary and damage was reported Thursday by the homeowner's father.

The homeowner, 30-year-old John Peter Norum, was sentenced in early November to 18 months in prison for fifth-offense operating while intoxicated.
