Investigators Looking into How He Got Prescription Drugs

A judge in Waukesha County has set a new $150,000 bail for Mark Benson.  That's on top of his previous $500,000 bail.

The new bail comes after Benson was caught in violation of the old one.

Benson is the man accused of causing a car crash that killed a pregnant Oconomowoc High School administrator and her 10-year-old daughter.

The Waukesha County Metro Drug Enforcement Group took Benson into custody after searching a home in the Town of Summit Tuesday evening, authorities said.

"Benson was arrested for violating the conditions of his bail," Sheriff's Detective Steve Pederson told WTMJ.  "Some of the items seized during the search warrant were controlled medications."

Investigators say they also found several weapons and more than 20,000 rounds of ammunition.  Under the terms of his bail, he was not allowed to possess firearms.

Benson is currently in custody at the Waukesha County Jail.

Last April, Jennifer Bukosky, her unborn child, and her 10-year-old daughter Courtney Bella were killed when their car was hit by Benson's SUV.  Police said Benson was high on prescription drugs at the time of the crash.

Benson remained behind bars until he posted bail in February.  A judge had reduced his bail from $1 million to $500,000.
