A block of cheese could be headed the way of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg if the Giants upset the Packers in the NFC Championship game.
He and Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt have a bet going for the game.
Bloomberg has offered New York-style cheesecake, pizza and locally-brewed beer for a Packers win, while Schmitt will give the Big Apple some cheese from Green Bay, beef and locally-produced chocolates.
Free Pub for Titletown
Schmitt says the game is giving Green Bay a worldwide showcase and wonderful free advertising for the city.
"It's great," said Schmitt about hundreds of millions of people putting their eyes on the Packers and the city with the NFC Championship Game.
"We've been on New York radio stations, some Seattle stations last week," Schmitt stated regarding interviews he's had with national press.
"You can't buy that kind of advertising."
And what he's got to advertise to the country isn't just cheese and beer and Brett Favre.
"We've got a lot more going on than the Green Bay Packers," reminds Schmitt.
"We've got billion-dollar companies, we have great educational systems, we've got recreational activities that go on all year.
"We can convey that this is not only a special time because of the NFL, but a great place to live."
