Could the resurgence of the Packers mean a resurgence of the name "Brett"?

If you've got a kid in middle school, chances are he or she knows someone named Brett.

During the 1990's, when the dominant packers were making back to back trips to the Super Bowl and Brett Favre was winning multiple MVP awards, the name Brett spiked in Wisconsin.

According to the Social Security Administration, it was ranked 71st most popular in 1994.

A year later it leaped up to 43rd, then in 96 and 97, it moved all the way up to 38th.

Then came the free fall.

During the Ray Rhodes and Mike Sherman years, the name Brett dropped all the way out of the top 100.

It was no where to be found in 2006, but who knows?

With the success this year, with all the records broken and the Sports Illustrated covers, the name brett could soon may a comeback, and return to the most popular list...here in Wisconsin, for boys...or girls.

From thinkbabynames.com

"The boy's and girl's name Brett \b-re-tt\ is pronounced bret. It is of Latin origin, and its meaning is "from Britanny or Britain". Transferred use of the surname, which originated in the Middle Ages as an ethnic name for a native of Brittany (France), or Britain (England)."
