ELKHORN, Wis. (AP) -- Prosecutors played a jail house phone call today to support testimony from a bank robber who claims Mark Jensen was willing to pay $1,000 to make a witness "go away."

Jensen is on trial in Walworth County. He's accused of killing his wife, Julie, in 1998.

David Thompson testified earlier this week that he told Mark Jensen he knew someone who could make the witness stay at home during the trial so he couldn't testify about what he said were Jensen's plans to poison his wife.

Today, prosecutors played a recording of phone calls between Jensen and his girlfriend and Jensen and his parents. Prosecutors contend Jensen was trying to make arrangements to get $1,000 to Thompson's finacee. Jensen tells his mother on the phone that they have to do whatever they possibly can to make sure they win the case against him.

Jensen is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Julie Jensen. The defense claims Julie Jensen killed herself and tried to frame her husband.
