The Packers will play the NY Giants in Sunday's NFC Final, but this is definitely not the same Giants team Green Bay blew out in week 2, 35-13.
After the Packers discovered their matchup on Sunday night, Coach Mike McCarthy agrees this Giants team coming into Lambeau is very different.
"Eli had hurt his shoulder the week before (the week 2 game)," explained McCarthy, which gives reason for his 55.9% completion percentage and interception that helped seal the Packers' win.
Let's just say that he's put it together since then.
In his last three games, the near-miss against the New England Patriots and back-to-back road playoff wins against Tampa Bay and Dallas, Manning has 8 touchdown passes with just one pick.
The Giants' defense has also stepped up since getting shellacked by the Packers.
"Their defense was in the second game of a new defensive system," says McCarthy, and the Packers took advantage with 368 yards, 285 through the air along with three Brett Favre touchdown passes.
Oh, they've figured it out since then.
In the 16 regular and postseason games following the Packers game, they've registered 62 sacks.
"They're playing very well in all three areas," states McCarthy.
And on the road, the Giants have been spectacular: seven straight wins in the regular season, then two huge road playoff wins: 24-14 at Tampa Bay in the wildcard round, 21-17 over Dallas oN Sunday.
But the Giants haven't had to go on the road and play in the Frozen Tundra.
