Midwest Flies to Hawaii, With Help from Northwest

By Jay Sorgi

You can now fly the best care in the air to Hawaii...with a little assistance from one of Midwest's new stakeholders.

Midwest and Northwest Airlines have set up what's called a "code share agreement." It allows passengers to buy one ticket to fly both airlines' planes to get to Hawaii.

People can take Midwest from Milwaukee to Los Angeles or San Francisco, then transfer to a Northwest plane to take them to Honolulu, Maui or Kona.

Midwest started selling the code share tickets last weekend, and a few people have already bought tickets.

The Journal Sentinel says services like Travelocity and Expedia still have to work out a few technical kinks before they can start selling the packages.

Northwest will own a 47% stake in Midwest Airlines after federal approval comes for TPG Capital's purchase of the Milwaukee-based airline.
