Woman Treated After Crashing into Sewage Plant

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) -- An 18-year-old woman apparently fell asleep at the wheel and crashed through a security gate of a sewage plant, causing about $30,000 of damage to the building and her vehicle, police said.

A car driven by Amanda L. Berth of Sheboygan broke through the fence early Sunday morning and slammed into a steel roll-up garage door at the Sheboygan Wastewater Treatment Plant, authorities said.

Police said Berth fled from the scene and was found hiding in a clump of trees.

She was taken to a hospital for treatment for a concussion and fractured leg.

She was cited for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, hit-and-run and inattentive driving.
