Brookfield Police say they have made an arrest in a case of vandalism that seriously damaged Brookfield East's football field last month. Police say the 17-year-old suspect is from Milwaukee and is not a current or former student at the school.

Police say they had developed a suspect early in their investigation. A service technician from a local car dealership noticed that a loaner vehicle was returned with damage and mud on the underside of the car.

Police followed up and linked the vehicle and its driver to the damage. That suspect apparently had prior contacts with police for complaints of criminal damage to property.

Brookfield East was forced to move two of its games to Brookfield Central while it fixed the damage to the field. The district spent about $10,000 dollars fixing the field.

Police say they plan to forward felony criminal damage to property charges to the District Attorney's office.
