Illegal Immigrant to be Deported After Felony Child Abuse Conviction

By The Associated Press

An illegal immigrant convicted of child abuse for hitting his daughter with a belt now faces a much tougher punishment.

Salomon Rodriquez, who's 28 and currently living in Green Bay, pleaded guilty to a felony after school officials noticed his 5-year old daughter had bruises.

She told authorities her dad struck her when she wanted to call relatives, because she was scared to be alone with her one-year old brother.

Rodriquez got a six-month sentence - but now federal immigration authorities are stepping in and Rodriquez is expected to be deported.
