Carbajal-Lile Captured in Ohio
Eddie Carbajal-Lile, a suspected illegal immigrant wanted in connection with a hit-and-run fatality in Sheboygan County, has been captured in Ohio.
He was wanted on a felony warrant after he fled the scene of a crash on state Highway 32 and county Highway V in the town of Lima on August 14that that killed Paul Watry, 17, and injured Scot Mueller, 18, and Jillian Fitzmaurice, 18.
Authorities say he grabbed his cell phone from his wrecked car and then took off on foot.
This week, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials notified the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department that Carbajal-Lile was in the Butler County jail in Ohio. He had given authorities there the false name Ricardo Ibanez-Crisanto. When jailers fingerprinted him, though, they discovered his real identity and contacted ICE.
Carbajal-Lile will be extradited to Wisconsin for his initial court appearance.
He was charged earlier this month in Sheboygan County Circuit Court with hit and run resulting in death, a felony that carries penalties of up to 15 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
According to the criminal complaint, Carbajal-Lile is an illegal immigrant who was considered a risk to flee the country.
