GLENDALE - Three people have died in a single-car crash in Glendale.
It happened near 25th and Silver Spring Friday evening.
TODAY'S TMJ4 spoke with a couple who witnessed the whole thing, and tried to help the victims. They say they’ll never be the same after seeing such a horrible accident.
“It was really scary,” says Cynthia Barnes. “We ran across the street, and I tried to stop traffic and ask people to dial 911. My husband ran over quickly to see if he could help someone out of the car, if that was possible. But it didn't appear to be possible.”
Barnes’ husband saw a man and woman unresponsive in the front seat, but he couldn’t see who was in the backseat. He couldn’t get to any them because the car was so badly damaged.
Investigators covered the car with a blue tarp, as they tried to recreate exactly what happened. There was debris everywhere. Tires, twisted metal, and shattered glass covered the road way.
Barnes says the car was heading east on Silver Spring Drive at a high rate of speed, when another vehicle turned in front of it.
The car didn’t have enough time to react and lost control, running into a tree and utility pole, before flipping several times.
The other vehicle drove away.
“It was like a scene out of a movie,” Barnes says. “My husband and I were sitting on the park bench just here on the corner and I heard a loud sound and I turned around and saw this car rolling. It flipped at least 3 times. It hit the light pole then stopped against the fence across the street.”
