3 Milwaukee officers injured by jail inmate
MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County sheriff's officials said three correctional officers have been injured by a combative inmate at the county jail.
Authorities said a 43-year-old inmate, in custody on a homicide charge, refused to return to his cell Tuesday and tried to hit one of the officers. The guard tried to use his stun gun on the inmate, but it failed.
The inmate then tried to choke another officer and a third guard used his Taser gun, officials said .
Additional officers arrived and the inmate was handcuffed. The inmate was taken to a hospital for treatment after hitting his head on a wall. He was later returned to the jail.
One officer suffered a possible tendon tear and is off work. A second officer received facial injuries and a third sustained an injury to his forearm.
