Midwest Job Outsourcing Starts Today; Pilots To Protest

By Erik Bilstad and Jay Sorgi

Starting today, air travelers who fly Midwest Connect will find themselves riding in a new regional jet in an effort for the airline to save money, and Midwest Airlines pilots aren't happy about it.

Those pilots are planning to picket in front of the airline's corporate headquarters this morning.

They are are protesting the outsourcing of jobs, and that Midwest Connect passengers are flying on new planes starting today.

Republic Airways pilots are to start flying the Midwest Connect routes.

Midwest announced the deal last month, outsourcing more than 100 Midwest pilots' jobs.

The new jets are smaller and don't have the wide seats that are on the 717s.
