Northwest Airlines has announced the addition of two daily non-stop routes from Milwaukee to Los Angeles just a day after Midwest Airlines said it was cutting its Milwaukee-L.A. direct routes as part of a drastic cost-saving plan.
"Wisconsin customers continue to have access to all destinations, domestic and insternational served by Northwest Airlines, bringing more of the world to Wisconsin," Northwest senior vice president of revenue management Jim Cron said in a statement.
Flight number NW 507 will depart from Milwaukee at 7:40 each morning and arrive in Los Angeles at 10:05, while NW 506 will depart at 11:00 am and arrive at 4:45 pm starting September 6th.
Northwest Airlines was a significant investor in TPG Capital's takeover of Midwest Air Group earlier this year.
Midwest will continue to operate service from Milwaukee to Kansas City, which can become a transfer point for flights to Los Angeles.
