Crash Involving Deputy Kills Other Driver

By Jay Sorgi

A crash involving a Sheboygan County Sheriff's deputy squad car kills a man driving the other vehicle.

The crash happened in the Town of Wilson near Highway OK (South Business Drive) and Stahl Road, just east of I-43, at about 1:30 a.m. on Monday.

Sheriff's officials say one deputy had responded to a motorcyclist who crashed his bike while going 100 miles per hour on OK.  The deputy was struggling with that crash victim.

Another deputy received a call to assist the first deputy and was going southbound on OK when that second deputy hit the other vehicle.  That car had pulled into the intersection after going Westbound on Stahl Road.

Both cars rolled into a nearby ditch.

The driver of the other vehicle, who's 19 years old and from Sheboygan Falls, was pronounced dead.

The deputy's car had caught fire, but he escaped with help from one of the officers.

The deputy was injured, was stitched up at St. Nicholas Hospital and released. He is a seven-year veteran on the force.

The motorcyclist, a 20-year-old man, was arrested for drunken driving.
