A competitive bicycle rider who was killed when she was run over by a car is being remembered as a determined leader, beloved athlete and wife.

Nancy Sellars and her friend Tom Chopp were riding down 5 Mile Road in Raymond when they were hit from behind. The driver sped off.

Sellars died Thursday morning at the hospital.

"She was the love of my life," said Jimi Sellars, Nancy's husband of 24 years. "I lived for her."

"We just figured we'd be those two real old people going to the restaurant at 3:00, you know. It's not going to happen."

A female suspect was later arrested for drunk driving and leaving the scene of the accident.

"A drunk driver story again," laments Jimi. "I've heard it so many times. Not only did this woman, you know, ruin my life, I'm sure she ruined hers and her family's life.

"(Nancy) was the epitome of living life the right way. I just hope she's in a better place. I'm sure she is, and maybe I'll get to see her someday."

Sellars' last major adventure was the Race Across America to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation. She competed in Ironman Triathlons as well.

Chopp is still recovering from his injuries in the incident.
