Suspect in homicide at east side George Webb in custody
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Police have arrested the 28-year-old man suspected of shooting and killing a cook at a George Webb restaurant on Milwaukee's east side Friday morning.
The suspect was arrested Friday night in a home on the city's north side, police said.
They also identified the victim as 21-year-old Reginald Evans.
The shooting is weighing heavy on the hearts of neighbors on Milwaukee's east side. Joe Peterson got to work Friday, only to be upset by the news.
"Like I said, I just wanna give his family a big hug. I just, I don't know. I can't imagine my mom, like getting a call saying that was me. I can't even think about that," said Peterson.
Peterson works only a few doors from the George Webb on Oakland where the unthinkable happened. Police say around 2 a.mm, drunken customers got into an argument and began throwing things around.
"There was a struggle on the scene. As the cook intervened with the waitresses to try to eject the unruly patrons, it was one of those patrons that returned with a firearm and murdered the cook," said Milwaukee Police Ed Chief Flynn.
The cook was just 21 years old.
