MSO chorus director arrested as part of county parks sex sting
MILWAUKEE - Eleven people have been arrested in the last two weeks as part of an undercover sex sting in Milwaukee County Parks, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday.
One of those arrested was 58-year-old Lee Erickson, who is the chorus director for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Erickson was arrested Monday for Lewd and Lascivious Behavior after he exposed himself in front of a deputy in a Grant Park bathroom.
In a press release, Sheriff's Office officials say Erickson requested numerous times that he wanted to "be able to pay the fine and not have this go public", or it would ruin his career.
The Sheriff's Office says it started the undercover operation after "numerous complaints" of sexual activity and solicitation taking place in county parks. Suspects have been arrested in Grant Park, Whitnall Park, Estabrook Park, and the Underwood Creek Parkway.
The others arrested include Jerome T. Kern, 75 of Brookfield, Kenneth C. Hunt, 63 of Shorewood, Mark O. Rustebakke, 47 of East Troy, Thomas W. Utech, 49 of Elm Grove, Jorge L. Cabal, 53 of Greendale, and Afzal I. Syed, 43, of Milwaukee.
"This is a quality of life issue," explained Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke. "People want to enjoy their open air spaces in the parks without being solicited, assaulted, or witnessing this type of behavior."
The sheriff's office says all of the subjects' vehicles were towed following their arrests.
