FDA issues new warning about jerky treats making pets sick
MILWAUKEE - The federal government is issuing a new warning about tainted jerky treats that are making pets sick.
There are reports of more than 3,600 pets that have gotten sick, and nearly 600 have died, reportedly from jerky treats.
Complaints are coming in from all over the country, and now the FDA has issued a new alert.
Researchers can't figure it out how the treats are making pets sick, but they're investigating chicken, duck and sweet potato jerky made in China.
Earlier this year, several top brands were recalled. But other brands, specifically those imported from China, are still on store shelves.
If you do feed them these treats, watch your pet closely for symptoms including stomach issues, and a decrease in appetite.
Save the packaging and report it to the FDA.
