FOX POINT - Investigators say it's too early to tell exactly what went wrong, but we do know there was a desperate effort try to save the man who was killed.

Caller: Sean!! (inaudible) Are you there?

Dispatcher: Where is your emergency?

A chilling 911 call, from a man at the scene of this garage collapse on Santa Monica Boulevard in Fox Point -- so terrified, he can't read the street number.

Dispatcher: What's the address on Santa Monica?

Caller: 1440.

Dispatcher: There's no such address.

Caller: What's that?

Dispatcher: There is no such address.

Caller: Oh s---.

Sean Held and a partner were working to shore up the garage when it collapsed Wednesday morning. Only Sean was inside. Emergency crews got there as soon as they could, but it was already too late.

Caller: I don't know if he can breathe. I can't hear him anymore.

Held died at the scene. The homeowner wasn't there when it happened. The building permit was issued to MDM Builders of Slinger. The head of the company says he didn't really know Held -- that he contracted the work out and he says - all of the subcontractor's permits and credentials were up to date.

Leaving investigators to figure out how it could happen, and Held's family wondering why.
