Woman charged with homicide after woman found stabbed in Milwaukee street
MILWAUKEE - Charges have been filed against a woman accused of murdering another woman on Saturday, July 6.
According to the criminal complaint, a witness says Shaneeka Long was "mad because people in the neighborhood were calling her a slut." She challenged people at the scene to a fight, and the witness said Shirley Eskridge finally agreed to fight, "because they were both women and this would end the drama."
The witness said they began fighting but then Long suddenly drew a knife and stabbed Eskridge. Long then ran away, where she was later stopped by police.
The officer on scene asked Long, "Where's the knife?" and she "reached behind her back and produced a bloody knife and dropped it on the sidewalk."
Long has been charged with first-degree reckless homicide - use of a dangerous weapon. If convicted, she could face up to 60 years in prison.
