Child sexual assault suspect allegedly burns baby with a lighter
RACINE - A man out on bond for molesting a boy has pleaded not guilty to burning a baby with a lighter.
Gerald Lee Baumeister, 20 of Rochester, was charged after an incident on May 15 when he allegedly burned the baby with a cigarette lighter. The child was found with a burn on his foot.
Baumeister also pleaded not guilty Wednesday to second-degree sexual assault of a child for sex with a girl when she was 15 and 16 years old, according to the Racine Journal Times. The alleged abuse stopped when she gave birth to a son just before Christmas.
In February, Baumeister was charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child in a case involving a 12-year-old boy. He was out on bond in the sexual assault case when the baby was burned.
Baumeister was previously found competent to stand trial, and will next appear Aug. 9.
