Republican Schultz to vote against budget
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Republican Sen. Dale Schultz says he will vote against the state budget being debated in the Wisconsin Senate.
Schultz has been an outspoken critic of the Republican-backed spending plan but he has not said whether he would vote for it.
Schultz on Thursday told The Associated Press he would vote no.
That means all other Republicans must vote for it in order for the budget to have enough support given unanimous Democratic opposition.
Another moderate Republican, Sen. Rob Cowles, tells AP he intends to vote for the budget.
The vote is expected Thursday afternoon or evening.
The budget passed the Assembly on Wednesday and will go to Gov. Scott Walker if it passes the Senate on Thursday.
