MILWAUKEE - On June 16, 1993, Charlie Sykes started his career as a talk show host on 620WTMJ.

20 years later, we're celebrating his tenure as a fixture in Wisconsin talk radio. talk during "Midday with Charlie Sykes."

So is the State of Wisconsin, as Governor Scott Walker marked today as "Charlie Sykes Day" in Wisconsin and surprised him in studio today with the proclamation.

"I think it's fair to say that nobody thought I was going to last 20 years in radio, including me," Sykes joked to start his Friday show.

"The difference between now and 20 years ago, I do have more fun now."

He's pushed the conversation about countless political issues in our city, state and country, from controversies in City Hall and the County Executive's office to the Wisconsin gubernatorial recall.

Now, he marks 20 years at Radio City!
