DOT wraps up Highway 41 bridge work in Oshkosh
OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- A years-long construction project that has been tying up traffic on state Highway 41 in the Oshkosh is wrapping up.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation celebrated the opening of the Lake Butte des Morts bridge on Tuesday. The bridge carries the highway over the lake west of the city's downtown.
All eight lanes won't be open until July, but DOT Northeast Region Director Will Dorsey tells Gannett Wisconsin Media (http://oshko.sh/194oknY ) that Tuesday's ceremony marks a milestone in the construction in Winnebago County.
He says the work began in 2009 and will be done next year.
The bridge is part of a $525 million project widening 17 miles of Highway 41 from Neenah to south of Highway 26 in Oshkosh.
