Small plane crashes in Brookfield
BROOKFIELD - Witnesses claim they didn't hear much when the plane crashed. But there was a lot of commotion afterwards as rescue crews tramped through two feet marshy water.
“I didn’t really hear anything,” exclaims witness Paul Chuside. “Basically I saw a lot of activity. I heard a lot of sirens and stuff, and we work right across the street here.”
Even after rescue crews arrived on the scene, the marsh made it tough for them to get to the site. They had to trek through water two feet deep. They brought along special equipment, just in case the pilot needed help.
They also called in a rescue helicopter, too who helped scope out the scene.
Officials don't know yet what caused the plane. But they heard it was doing circles above the airport, right before it happened.
It looks like the pilot made a crash landing, then the plane flipped over.
Witnesses didn't know what to make of it.
“I wasn’t really sure what to think,” states witness Rich Waple “I figured it might have been a fire or an accident. Then I went outside and saw that it was something from the airport.”
The pilot wasn't hurt, but he was taken to Froedtert Hospital for evaluation.
