Shooting reported near cell phone store
MILWAUKEE - Police are currently investigating a shooting that happened around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
According to Sgt. Mark Stanmeyer with Milwaukee Police, a 19-year-old man was shot in the parking lot at the rear of a cellular phone store in the 2600 block of W. Fond du Lac Ave.
"The victim and a group of males entered the store and attempted to sell a used cellular phone to the employees," Stanmeyer explained. "The employees refused to purchase the phone. The victim left the store and was confronted by another group of males that had been inside of the store earlier and were now in the parking lot behind the store. A member from the second group shot the victim in the leg and then fled in a vehicle."
Sgt. Stanmeyer said the victim ran about a block after being shot, and was taken to a local hospital. He is currently in stable condition.
The victim has two previous arrests for robbery and currently had a warrant out for his arrest for violating his probation.
