Milwaukee low-wage strike leads to 'moshpit'
MILWAUKEE - A worker who walked off his job in a one-day strike, got an unexpected "welcome back" on Thursday: a suspension.
He and his supporters then ended up getting involved in what police described as a "moshpit."
Kevin Worthy-Jackson is a stocker at the Dollar Tree store near North Holton Street and East Capitol Drive in Milwaukee.
He has been there about six months and makes $7.35 an hour.
He told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Jodi Becker he went on strike Wednesday to fight for higher wages.
When he returned today, his assistant manager had a message from the corporate level.
"She told me I'm suspended until a further investigation," said Worthy-Jackson.
"There was no length of how long I would be suspended, or how long the investigation would take."
Jackson and some of the people from the groups supporting the strike tried to follow up with questions for the manager on Thursday.
Milwaukee Police told Jodi things got heated and ended in a scuffle with minor injuries.
The store manager didn't want to talk.
