Police investigating 'suspicious' death of 3-year-old
MT. PLEASANT - Police have arrested a man in connection to the death of a three-year-old boy in Mt. Pleasant.
Marcus Johnson, 25, was arrested for first degree intentional homicide.
Johnson is the boyfriend of the three-year-old's mother.
Authorities were called to the home on Bryn Mawr Avenue for an unresponsive child just after 10 a.m. Friday. When they arrived the boy was not breathing and did not have a pulse.
Neighbors say Johnson and the boy's mother seemed calm as they were placed into separate squad cars.
"They didn't seem distressed or anything. They just kind of walked out to the vehicle, got put into the vehicles and were taken away," recalled Robert Brau.
Neither were handcuffed at the time.
The mother has not been arrested.
Johnson is expected to be formally charged soon.
Police have not released details about the boys injuries or how he died.
