MILWAUKEE - An important ramp in the Marquette Interchange will close today and stay closed through most of the summer.

The ramp is from I-794 west to south I-43.  It's scheduled to close this evening and stay closed until August.

The bridge that is closing is fairly new, part of the Marquette Interchange, which was recently rebuilt.  The ramp is fine, it doesn't need work.

The issue is work a little south of the Interchange.  "As part of the bridge rehabilitation project there will be work going on that is going to impact where the merge would have been from this particular ramp," said Michael Pyritz with the state Department of Transportation.

If you need to go south on I-43 from I-794, take the turn north on I-43.  Then get off at McKinely/Fond du Lac Avenue.  You can quickly turn around there and get on I-43 southbound.

"I feel like I'm giong to be a very frustrated driver," said Amber Neale, who says she'll get caught in the construction crossfire.

"I work right downtown on Water Street, and I live in Bay View, so I take the Hoan Bridge or 43 south everyday."

The DOT says that the work is finished on I-94 westbound as you drive out of the Marquette Interchange.

There are four lanes of traffic as you reach the stadium interchange.
