Teenager Charged in Joyride Death

WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) -- A 17-year-old Sussex teen has been charged in a car crash that killed his friend who was "surfing" on the hood of his car.

Michael Hollangel is charged with homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle in Waukesha County for Thursday's crash in Menomonee Falls.

A criminal complaint says he and 16-year-old Brian Jackson were joyriding when the car crashed into a tree, throwing the Menomonee Falls boy from the hood.

Prosecutors say the vehicle was traveling between 50 and 60 mph when Jackson was thrown.

Hollangel faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

He and Jackson were wrestling teammates at Hamilton High School.

Hollangel's bail was set Friday at $1,000 cash and a $10,000 signature bond, which must be co-signed by his parents.
