Safest Juneteenth on Record

By Elizabeth Braun and Jay Sorgi

Milwaukee Police say that the latest celebration of Juneteenth was the safest on record.

Police made 20 arrests at the event - 19 for disorderly conduct and one for resisting an officer.

The celebration is supposed to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States, but has been marred by violence in past years.

Last year someone was pulled out of his car and attacked while leaving Juneteenth.

This year, police had 200 officers on hand and a helecopter patrolling.

There were at least 50 more officers than in previous years. They patrolled not only the festival area, but were stationed on rooftops and in surrounding neighborhoods.
