WAUKESHA - The nightmare for Shanel Negron's family is over after the man accused of killing her has taken his own life. Negron’s sister said it’s a huge sense of relief to know Eddie Callaway can't hurt anyone else ever again.
"You have no idea, it's overwhelming for sure,” said Danielle Rivera. “I'm not sure if I am more ecstatic or not sure if I want to break down and cry."
For nine days, Shanel Negron's family has lived in fear.
"Mr. Callaway was confronted by police during the confrontation,” said Deputy Chief Dennis Angle with Waukesha Police. “Mr. Callaway was given the opportunity to surrender. Instead, he chose to take his own life."
Police say they are confident Callaway is responsible for Negron's death, and are glad they can close the case, but say it's still tragic.
