Federal officials have added three more counties in Southeastern Wisconsin to the list of those in the state with disaster area status, and they'll see more territory they could add today.

FEMA crews will spend time in Jefferson County, and they won't have to look hard to find flood damage, especially in the city of Jefferson.

There, rivers that divided the city in half have finally crested, and sandbagging has just ended in the early Thursday morning hours.

In Fort Atkinson, sandbagging efforts still continue, with the Rock River expected to crest this morning.

If you want to help the sandbagging efforts in Jefferson County, please call 1-920-674-7700.

Three SE Wisconsin Counties Declared

President Bush declared Waukesha, Washington and Dodge Counties as disaster areas, along with Winnebago and Green Counties.

The declaration frees up Federal Emergency Management Agency grants and low interest loans to help people recover from a series of thunderstorms that dumped 6 to 12 inches of rain across much of southern Wisconsin last week.

The National Weather Service says some areas got 16 inches of rain.

Late last week, Bush declared seven counties disaster areas: Crawford, Columbia, Milwaukee, Richland, Racine, Sauk and Vernon.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
