Milwaukee family thankful after daughter spotted inches away from alleged Boston bombers
MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee family is thankful after the terrifying discovery that their niece was spotted on video right beside the Boston bombers.
Twenty-one-year-old Caroline Callaway was inches away from the Boston terrorists, 20 minutes before the explosions began.
"Seeing myself in the picture it was a little bit scary, bone chilling. It kind of freaks me out. I have to get it together to process what I saw," Callaway said.
The picture shows Callaway right next to the brothers, so close her backpack almost touched one of them.
"My friends and I were just going to grab some sandwiches so we were just walking down the street I was just the typical person walking down the street looking at my phone checking something out," she said.
As far as being overly shaky the week after the bombings, Callaway says she isn't.
"Thankfully, family friends, especially my mom are really close with me," she said.
The music therapy major at the Berklee College of Music is looking forward to the future and feels grateful.
"It makes me really thankful that I'm still here and not hurt," she added. "It makes me want to try harder and do all I can to excel with that."
Caroline Calloway knows that on that fateful day, she carried more than her backpack. She was traveling with a heavy dose of luck.
